If you have never made homemade ranch, oh my gosh, go to your kitchen RIGHT NOW and make this. Nom nom. You’ll never buy store-bought again. So tasty, plus the ingredients are so much better.

Some store-bought vegan ranch dressings taste…odd. Let’s be real. This recipe tastes just like the real thing. Nope, I’m not a dressing magician or anything. It’s all in finding your favorite vegan mayo and using the right seasonings.

Ingredients for ranch dip.

Ingredients

I like to use Just Mayo in my ranch recipe which tastes like a traditional mayo that is made with eggs. Other great options are Vegenaise and Hellman’s vegan mayo. All of these contain only plant-based ingredients, whereas traditional mayo is made with eggs.

A container of just mayo alongside a jar of freshly made egg-free, vegan ranch.

I have tried making vegan ranch with cashews. And while delicious, it just doesn’t hit the spot for me when I want that perfect ranch taste like vegan mayo does.

  • Vegan mayo: Again, use your favorite!
  • Dairy-free milk: Unsweetened, plain. I have been using oat milk these days.
  • Apple cider vinegar: Adds a zing to the recipe. You can also use lemon juice or white vinegar.
  • Garlic: The recipe calls for fresh cloves, but garlic powder works, too (use about 1 teaspoon.)
  • Parsley, dill, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper: The spices and seasoning you need for a flavorful ranch! Feel free to use fresh parsley and dill.

Paprika is kind of like my secret ingredient for this recipe. It is still absolutely amazing without it, but it adds a special oomph.

How to Make Vegan Ranch Dressing

The directions for this vegan ranch are as simple as mixing all of the ingredients together. Add more (or less) non-dairy milk to get the consistency you desire. You can enjoy it as soon as you make it, but the flavors really come through after sitting a couple of hours in the fridge.

Storage

Store this ranch in a jar or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 10-14 days.

All ingredients in a bowl ready to mixed.

This dressing can also work as a vegan ranch dip for veggies…or homemade fries. Yummy!

My favorite ways to use it? On salads, of course, and in wraps! My son loves to dip pretty much any and everything in it. I wanna know how you use it!

THIS. IS. AWESOME! I made it to go with falafel and salad, and it was SO yummy! It was also easy as advertised 🙂 I omitted the paprika as my mom cannot tolerate it, and it was still delicious. We will definitely make this again–thank you!

  3. Oh my goodness! I was in the process of looking up ingredients to make a vegan buffalo chicken cauliflower pizza when I came upon this recipe. I was going to buy store bought vegan ranch, but when I saw this recipe I realized that I had all these ingredients at home. I made it this morning and it is absolutely delicious. It’s in the refrigerator chilling so that I can use it this afternoon for my pizza.I decided that after making this recipe that I won’t even think about buying store bought vegan ranch. It’s the first time I’ve had ranch dressing since going vegan almost 5 years ago. It’s so, so good and I can’t wait to try it on my pizza.

Love this recipe! When using vegenaise mayo I found it to be too runny so it only put half a quarter cup of almond milk (I used almond breeze) as I prefer my ranch dress on the thicker side. This is definitely a keeper for me. Even my vegetarian husband and 2 year old daughter love it.

  5. Really really good! My family said it tasted like restaurant ranch. Tonight I’m going to give it a southwest flair!!

This dressing is awesome! Since my husband and I went to a plant based diet I have bought the store brand vegan ranch but it just didn’t taste right. The first time I made this I couldn’t believe how amazing it was. Taste better than any ranch I have ever had. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent recipe! I wish they made vegenaise with healthier ingredients, but we will just let it slid under the 20% rule. This recipe is a keeper!

  7. I have tried a few vegan ranch dressing and have not been impressed with any of them. I am so glad I found this recipe because it is SO GOOD. I took it to work and let everyone try it (including non vegans) and it was a huge hit. I will never buy bottled ranch dressing again.

  8. I’ve tried several recipes for vegan ranch and this is by far the best one for me. I’ve taken this to party’s and everyone raves. People don’t believe it’s vegan lol.

The BEST ranch dressing ever! And super easy! Adjust seasonings to your taste (I added a bit more of all the spices except for paprika which I omitted). I used veganaise as a base. I’m blown away with how flavorful this is! I should have tried this years ago!

Oh. My. Goodness. We’re ranch dressing fiends that have been searching for a vegan ranch for months. This tastes better than regular ranch ever did. I could almost cry it’s so good. Now we can have our favorite sauce back. Thank you so very much !

  10. I added 3X more dill and the juice of a full lemon (but I love dill) to this recipe. I did cut back on the milk a bit because of the added lemon juice. I also used lots of crushed garlic instead of garlic powder. Love this recipe! Its a staple in my vegan kitchen!

I’ve been trying different ranch dressings for a couple of months. I no longer have to search as this one is perfect for me. Thank you!

Pretty good! Almost there for me. I added an additional tsp of apple cider vinegar, 3/4 C total almond milk, and used Vegenaise. I did think it had entirely too much dill, so I think next time I would use half as much. I might experiment with dry mustard powder and vegan worcestershire sauce next time as well since they are traditionally included. Solid though!

I’ve been looking for a good vegan ranch recipe to dip my Buffalo Morningstar nuggets in. It’s delicious! Thank you so much!

Honestly this is the best ranch I’ve ever had vegan or not like I’ve been trying to find one that was close enough to the non-vegan ones and I’ve tried cashews but it’s not the same and then I made this and it tastes the exact same I was so shocked. Highly recommend. Try halving the recipe if u wanna try it for the first time cause it makes quite a bit 🙂

    1. This is my first time commenting on a recipe, but I had to, become this is simply amazing!! I’m a bit of a ranch connoisseur, and this is the best ranch I’ve ever had! I used vegenaise and Trader Joe’s oat milk because that’s what I had… and turned out Perfectly. I don’t like ranch that’s too sweet, and this combo was a delicious and creamy balance. Thank you for sharing ❤️

This is the first vegan salad dressing I have come across that I can say tastes phenomenal! It will definitely be something I keep in the fridge at all times! YUM

  16. Lovely recipe. We had some truffle salt in the kitchen and it really adds to the flavour! I’d highly recommend adding just under a 1/4 tsp.

I decided to try a vegan ranch recipe because of a heart issue as I am now on a plant based diet. I am completely sold on this recipe and have just finished making my fourth batch. It is delicious and I thank you for it! On its own I use it for salads and Iove using it to dip celeray, carrots and crinkle fries. I have also found that it is wonderful as a base for other sauces. I have added mustard, added pesto, and the other day mixed in pesto and tomato basil spaghetti sauce for the most wonderful spaghetti meal I have in years. You have a winner and again, I thank you. Slante!!!
