    JUMP TO RECIPE

Get your protein & your caffeine with this hemp protein smoothie recipe, made with hemp protein powder, matcha tea powder, avocado, and pineapple! It's also vegan.

Hemp Protein Smoothie with Matcha, Avocado + Pineapple

I always love smoothies but I've been on a SERIOUS kick since going totally plant-based. They are such a simple, quick way to get some amazing nutrients into your body. I love prepping the ingredients ahead of time & then just dumping them into the blender when I'm ready to sip away.

I usually add a couple of teaspoons of hemp protein powder to every smoothie I make.

The brand I always buy is Manitoba Harvest, because I find it to be very high quality.

    Health Benefits

In 4 tablespoons of their protein powder Hemp Pro 70, you get:

    • 20mg of protein
    • 25% of daily iron
    • 4% of daily calcium
    • all essential amino acids
    • 800mg of Omega 3
    • 2600 mg of Omega 6
    • 600mg of Omega 9

In this hemp protein smoothie recipe, it only calls for 2 tablespoons (half of what is listed above). If you want to add in more protein powder to suit your needs, go for it! You can definitely customize this recipe.

The other ingredients in this smoothie also have great health benefits. Matcha tea is packed with magnesium, antioxidants, fiber - and it's said to be a natural detox. It also contains caffeine (about 68 milligrams per teaspoon), but doesn't cause your body to crash after that caffeine high - making it the perfect substitution for coffee. Or at least, that typical second cup of coffee I always want to reach for!

Avocados contain good fats, lots of potassium, an abundance of vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin B5, and vitamin B6.

Pineapples are a good source of carbohydrates that are necessary for your brain to stay on top of it's game. Also, they contain a TON of vitamin C and manganese. Manganese helps your body absorb magnesium, which is a wonderful thing considering the majority of people are deficient in magnesium.

While health benefits are important, taste is also important - and this smoothie tastes great, too! I like to add a little maple syrup for some sweetness.
