Enjoy fries guilt-free with these no oil air fryer fries!
Air Fryer French Fries Recipe
I love making chips in my air fryer, but nothing beats these oil-free fries, let's be very serious. I'll never make fries any other way! They come out crispy and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside...without any oil.
You can smother them in gravy or nacho "cheese" sauce, add them on top of your veggie burger, or make loaded fries with vegan bacon bits and ranch dressing. YEESSSS please.
Usually, I just like to keep it simple and dip my air fryer fries into ketchup or BBQ sauce for a snack. Yup, I make fries for a snack (okay, and sometimes a meal) all the time. NO GUILT, baby.
How to Make Air Fryer Fries (Oil-Free)
If you have never used an air fryer before, don't feel intimidated! Fries are actually perfect for a first-time-air-fryer. They are really easy to make.
Peel and rinse your potatoes before cutting them into fries. They don't have to be perfect, but try to keep them in the same range of thickness. Choose your seasoning - do you want to go simple with a little salt, or are you craving seasoned fries? The recipe below includes my personal favorite seasoning but you can do whatever your tastebuds desire.
Place the fries into your air fryer and fry at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Stir every 5-10 minutes to make sure they cook evenly. And...that's it!
(You can also refer to the how-to video below if you like things visual!)
This is the air fryer I use. It was pretty inexpensive in comparison to most, and I love it!

Yum! I've been trying to up my air fryer game, this looks great. I have a huge family, so we will probably be using about 5 lbs. of potatoes. Can I dump them all into the basket at once, or should I do them in a couple batches so they are in a single layer?
Karissa says
Batches for sure 🙂

I only used salt and found them to be a bit bland in taste, but the crispness was perfect. I'll add the seasonings the ne t time. Also, soaking potatoes before cooking is a way to prevent browning but it also removes starch and keeps the potatoes from sticking together. 🙂

First time using my air fryer. Potatoes came out fine. We are looking forward to trying this with white potatoes & no seasoning ~ just to compare. I did add a little (teaspoon) of oil.

Do you grease your basket? I would love to have fries completely oil free, but everywhere I read it says you must grease your air fryer basket.
Karissa says
No, I didn't grease the basket.

Would you alter anything if you were making sweet potato fries? I can find lots of air fryer recipes online, but none for oil free sweet potato fries. Awesome website! Thanks!
Karissa says
Sweet potatoes fries would probably take less time.

I keep seeing posts about soaking the potatoes in the fridge for an hour prior to putting into the air fryer. Is that step not necessary?
Karissa says
Usually, that's done to prevent browning of the potatoes before frying. But because this recipe only calls for 3 potatoes, they are prepped quick enough to avoid any browning.
