Hemp Seed Ranch
This healthy hemp seed ranch recipe is oil-free, nut-free and uses nutritious hemp seeds as a creamy base!

Hemp Seed Ranch
If you’re looking for a healthy ranch recipe (I mean, ACTUALLY healthy) this is the recipe for you!
Hopefully, you love hemp seeds – because that’s how we’re making it today. I’ve expressed my love of hemp seeds a few times here on the blog, and this hemp seed ranch is probably one of my favorite ways to use them aside from just sprinkling them on salads.
Because hemp seeds are high in fat and are a softer seed, they work so well as an indulgent-tasting-but-nutritious ranch base. The result is creamy deliciousness.

I used to buy the Manitoba Harvest hemp seeds, but since I’ve been shopping more and more at Trader Joe’s lately, I’ve been purchasing their brand. Whatever brand you buy, just make sure they are labeled “hemp seed hearts” or “hulled hemp seeds”. These are the hemp seeds with the hard outer shell removed.
Health Benefits of Hemp Seeds
- They contain healthy fats (3:1 ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3)
- Great source of protein (10g of protein in just 3 tbsp)
Tip: Store hemp seeds in the fridge so the polyunsaturated fats don’t oxidize.

You can use this hemp seed ranch in these tasty Buffalo Chickpea Wraps or in this pasta salad…so many possibilities. Is there anything ranch doesn’t go with? Debatable.
Want to totally indulge? I also have a vegan mayo-based ranch recipe and omg, it’s heavenly.

Hemp Seed Ranch
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup hemp seeds
- 1/2 cup plain, unsweetened plant milk
- 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp parsley
- 1 tsp dried dill
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- salt to taste
Instructions
- Blend all ingredients until creamy (a small blender will work best if you don't have a Vitamix-style blender). Add more plant milk if you want a thinner dressing.

Hello,
Do you know approximately how many servings this makes? I’m trying to add it to MyFitnessPal to get the nutritional info.
This is sooooo good! I changed it up a bit to suit myself! I like more lemon juice and spices, and I added some white miso in place of the salt. Delish! Thank you!
This is my new go to ranch. I tried making cashew ranch and cashew/hemp seed ranch, but the hemp seed ranch is so much better. I have made this several times. Today I added fresh chives and basil which worked well. Store bought dressings are convenient, but they never come close to a good scratch recipe. Thank you!
I hesitate to make this as I don’t have a Vitamix or a small blender. I have a standard size blender and a food processor. Is there a way to soften the hemp seeds so that they are blendable with my equipment?
Hemp seeds are naturally very soft.
Is the powdered ranch dsg mix ok to use?
Unfortunately, the powdered ranch mixes usually have dairy.
Absolutely perfection
Very Good!
I really like this recipe but I found it to be a little bitter tasting, any suggestions to cut the bitterness? Or did you not find that with yours?
This was inedible. The flavours were all wrong and not nearly enough of them. Threw it down the sink. What a waste of good hemp seeds.
Same thing happened to mine , really bitter.
I find that certain brands of hemp seeds produce that bitter taste and others not at all. Maybe that was the issue.
I like this. I made it for a wrap as a spread.
So good with fresh dill! Thank you for this awesome recipe!
This is so great but just say it…make sure its not unsweetened vanilla almond milk either…
Totally wrong flavor direction! Thanks, though! I’ve made it twice, and I’m so grateful for the alternative!
The original recipe is kind of bland for my taste so I added some pickle juice, more onion and garlic powder, and salt. Perfect!
I just made this!! So good and such a great idea to incorporate protein and dressing in one! I’m going to use this on zucchini noodles too!
Very Good!!! Will become a staple!
Thanks, Kimberly! Happy you enjoyed the recipe!
I love that i get to use my hemp seeds that have been sitting in the freezer forever, simple hearthy and nutritious!
Delicious and pretty!
