Instant Pot Corn on the Cob

    JUMP TO RECIPE

This Instant Pot corn on the cob comes out perfect and tender every time. There is no guesswork involved! Just prep the corn and stick it in the pressure cooker with some water.

4 ears of corn in a large bowl, topped with salt and parsley.

Our preferred way to make corn on the cob is in the Instant Pot. We used to make it by boiling it - that's the way my mom always did it growing up! But after we discovered this Instant Pot method, I'll never go back. It's so much easier - and with a rambunctious 6-year-old and nosy dogs, having a big pot of boiling water on the stove makes me nervous.

Aside from the ease, the corn on the cob cooks evenly in the Instant Pot, so it's tender all around. There is really no risk of overcooking it and causing the kernels to get tough.

(Our second favorite way to make corn is by grilling it!)

4 ears of corn on the cob laying flat in different directions. Two are partially shucked, one is fully shucked, and one still has the husk.

    Prep the Corn

    1. Shuck the corn by removing the husk and silk.
    2. If the corn is too large to fit in the pot sideways, you may need to trim the tip off. I typically do not have this issue, but some corn is super long.

    Instructions

You will only need two ingredients for making corn on the cob in the Instant Pot: 4 ears of corn and 1 cup of water! Of course, you will also want the toppings of your choice (non-dairy butter, salt, and smoked paprika are favorites here!)

    1. Add 1 cup of water to the Instant Pot and place the trivet in.
    2. Place two ears of corn on the trivet, then two more on top the opposite way.
    3. Put the lid on and make sure the vent is set to "sealing."
    4. Set the Instant Pot to 2 minutes on manual mode. Some pots require you to set the pressure - if yours does, set to high pressure.
    5. The pot will take 5-10 minutes to pressurize, then it will start the countdown from 2 minutes. When the timer goes off, quick release the pot by turning the seal to "venting" - hot steam will come spraying out so use caution.
    6. When the pot is depressurized (the hissing will stop), remove the lid. Your corn is done!

    Topping Ideas

The fun part about corn on the cob is the toppings!

    • Butter (we love Earth Balance)
    • Salt
    • Pepper
    • Parmesan
    • Smoked paprika
    • Nutritional yeast
    • Nacho cheese seasoning
    • Garlic salt
    • Cajun butter
