Delicious, easy-to-make pizza sauce with classic Italian spices.
Easy Homemade Pizza Sauce
Aside from the toppings, you can add a little oomph to your pizza by making a flavorful sauce. This homemade pizza sauce calls for garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, and a pinch of red pepper flakes.
No bland pizza here!
Instead of reducing the sauce by simmering, we are simply whisking some tomato paste into the tomato sauce. This allows it to thicken so you don’t end up with a watery sauce. If you have every single ingredient for this recipe EXCEPT for the tomato paste, I would recommend simmering for 15 or so minutes.
If you don’t have basil and/oregano on hand, simply use other seasonings like marjoram, thyme, and rosemary or an Italian seasoning mix.
How Long Does Pizza Sauce Last?
If you have any leftover sauce, you can store it in the fridge for 3-4 days.
This sauce also freezes well. Freeze for up to 3 months in an airtight container or freezer bag.
Here is an easy pizza dough recipe to go along with your sauce.
