If you have never made homemade ranch, oh my gosh, go to your kitchen RIGHT NOW and make this. Nom nom. You’ll never buy store-bought again. So tasty, plus the ingredients are so much better.

Some store-bought vegan ranch dressings taste…odd. Let’s be real. This recipe tastes just like the real thing. Nope, I’m not a dressing magician or anything. It’s all in finding your favorite vegan mayo and using the right seasonings.

Ingredients for ranch dip.

Ingredients

I like to use Just Mayo in my ranch recipe which tastes like a traditional mayo that is made with eggs. Other great options are Vegenaise and Hellman’s vegan mayo. All of these contain only plant-based ingredients, whereas traditional mayo is made with eggs.

A container of just mayo alongside a jar of freshly made egg-free, vegan ranch.

I have tried making vegan ranch with cashews. And while delicious, it just doesn’t hit the spot for me when I want that perfect ranch taste like vegan mayo does.

  • Vegan mayo: Again, use your favorite!
  • Dairy-free milk: Unsweetened, plain. I have been using oat milk these days.
  • Apple cider vinegar: Adds a zing to the recipe. You can also use lemon juice or white vinegar.
  • Garlic: The recipe calls for fresh cloves, but garlic powder works, too (use about 1 teaspoon.)
  • Parsley, dill, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper: The spices and seasoning you need for a flavorful ranch! Feel free to use fresh parsley and dill.

Paprika is kind of like my secret ingredient for this recipe. It is still absolutely amazing without it, but it adds a special oomph.

How to Make Vegan Ranch Dressing

The directions for this vegan ranch are as simple as mixing all of the ingredients together. Add more (or less) non-dairy milk to get the consistency you desire. You can enjoy it as soon as you make it, but the flavors really come through after sitting a couple of hours in the fridge.

Storage

Store this ranch in a jar or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 10-14 days.

All ingredients in a bowl ready to mixed.

This dressing can also work as a vegan ranch dip for veggies…or homemade fries. Yummy!

My favorite ways to use it? On salads, of course, and in wraps! My son loves to dip pretty much any and everything in it. I wanna know how you use it!

I just made this it’s my first time gave a four stars because I haven’t let it rest yet. However I lick Ed the bowl and that was amazing so I can’t wait till the seasoning set in to taste finished dressing ❤️

  2. This is outstanding! All the positive comments did not go unnoticed. No preservatives or additives. It really is the BEST. I made seasoned tofu and dipped it in the dressing. My mother HATES tofu. I somehow convinced her to try it. She had several pieces!

This is a keeper, thank you for sharing. I loved Ranch dressing being vegan for over a year now, I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to substitute the ranch. It tastes amazing, I make this all the time and recommend this to everyone I know that is a beginner vegan! I make it exactly as written, turns out perfect every time!!

This Ranch is the stuff dreams are made of!!! Even my Husband and two kids (non-vegans) will eat this ranch ONLY! After making it for the first time, about three years ago, what was left of a single batch was fought over. Now, I always make a double batch. And if multiple salads are on the menu for the week I triple the recipe! Mainly because a rare phenomenon happens when my teenage daughter turns into a wild animal, ready to fight you to the death over this stuff…
Try it TODAY! You won’t be sorry – unless you too create a wild beast! 😉

  5. Look forward to trying your RANCH! Just got done with the Carrot Dogs. Love, LOVE, LOVE THEM. Mom and friend also LOVED THEM.

I made this, intending to share it with my husband for dinner. Then I got violently baked, and immediately knew that I wouldn’t be able to share my salad with this ranch. I ate the entire thing to myself. I’m not ashamed. I used a ton of fresh dill instead of dried, because I really enjoy being punched in the face with dill flavor. I also added a little more salt, because hypertension is a myth. Truly the best vegan ranch that I’ve tasted. I’ve been a vegan for eight months with no proper ranch, and as a Midwestern woman, that was killing me. This ranch is perfect and I will be using for the rest of my life.

    1. Jessica, I laughed out loud multiple times reading your comment. Totally made my day. So glad you loved the vegan ranch. Make a double batch next time so you can share haha.

Wow, what a keeper! I made this Vegan ranch dressing yesterday, didn’t change a thing it was delicious!
I made some vegan French dressing also because I like to use both on my salad. Great way to add more raw veggies to my diet … I’ll be a beauty by Summer!

Made this tonight and it was perfect. I am so grateful to have found this amazingly easy recipe. Thank you so much it’s definitely a life changer for me being a new vegan. I really can’t wait to try the potato salad recipe on your website. Definitely would recommend this salad dressing, and you don’t need to change a thing.

This recipe was amazing! I may actually start eating more salads now! My son (age 20) said it was the best ranch dressing he had ever eaten. He really loved that it didn’t taste “fake” like bottled dressings. Definitely added to my recipe collection! (I did a bit more dill to mine.)

This recipe was lovely, our Christmas pasta salad was the best one I have ever made. Thank you so much for the recipe. Making another today for New Years eve.

This is fantastic! I used veganaise, soy milk, dried parsley, 1 tablespoon fresh dill and the frozen crushed garlic from Trader Joes. The TJ’s frozen garlic is pretty potent so 3 cubes may be a little too much. Mine came out really garlicky but I like garlic.

  12. We’re not vegan but my wife can’t have dairy or eggs so decided to try this. Not exactly the same as ranch but it is a solid dip/dressing and is very delicious. I used lemon juice instead of cider vinegar.

  13. let me add one more option to the “vegan mayo” section – you could also use vegan mayo you make yourself – it’s so easy, too! (and yes I plan to print this recipe up 😀 )

  14. Hi Karissa, I really really love this recipe! Do you have a suggestion for how much parsley to use if going with fresh? Thanks!

  15. This is freaking fantastic!! I used Trader Joe’s vegan Mayo “spread” which already has some additives to it, and I didn’t have dried parsley, but DAMN I can eat this with a spoon! And it took about 5 minutes. Thank you!

Wow! Fantastic recipe! Have made this several times and am making more today! THANK YOU! This is by far the best ranch dressing I’ve ever had!

This was my first time making vegan ranch at home and it was amazing with spicy cauliflower “wings”. Even my carnivorous fiancé loved it!
