A nutritious, balanced vegan diet often includes ingredients that are generally lower in calories. For example, beans added to chili instead of beef can save calories, especially from fat. Fiber is typically prominent in a plant-based diet, which promotes satiety (keeps you full longer.)

Of course, you can eat vegan cookies all day and never lose weight. The trick to any weight loss is simply a calorie deficit. I find it much easier to achieve that when my plate is loaded with vegetables and healthy grains.

If you find a vegan diet difficult to stick to, but you really want to incorporate more plant-based foods into your meals, my suggestion is to commit to one vegan meal a day and work your way up from there if you choose.
